Gaming Your Way Into Fitness

Every morning at 6am, one guy wakes up to livestream video games. Every morning at 6am, one guy wakes up to do an intense spin session on his stationary bike. That guy is Mo (@ridewithMo on Twitter and TikTok). Mo is an exergamer: he plays video games while exercising. After losing over 20 pounds this way, Mo started streaming his bike rides on Twitch to inspire other gamers to get fit. (Or maybe he's inspiring fitness buffs to get into gaming?) Mo has built his Sweaty Mob into a few thousand followers, and the number is growing.

Instead of sitting stationary for a gaming session, people stay moving on stationary bikes or treadmills. It allows gamers to double up on their leisure time to exercise and play games, and it makes the exercise less monotonous. I set up my old Xbox at my walking treadmill, and I can pick up 3 miles in a single session. Even though I don't sweat, Mo says it counts.
