You Will Love the Couch Stretch
In our last newsletter, we spoke about stretching your hip flexors to help you stand taller.
There is a great multi-purpose stretch that will tackle your hips, quads, and ankles. You can do from home, while watching TV from your couch. It is called the couch stretch.
The best thing about this hip stretch is not that you can do it from your couch, the best thing is how versatile it is. You can kick into easy mode or hard mode for a few minutes while watching TV, playing video games, or scrolling the internet on your phone. Rack up a few minutes a day and you'll start to see a difference in your flexibility.
Easy Modification
Stand in front of your couch (facing away from it). Kick one leg back and put the top of your foot on the seat part to stretch that hip flexor. Putting your back foot further back or your front leg further forward will increase this stretch. Swap legs to stretch both sides.
Couch Stretch
Stand facing away from the couch again. Instead of putting your back leg on the seat, put your back knee on the seat, and put your foot against the couch back. The further you press your back leg towards the couch back, the more intense this will be. There's a video showing you how to do it here.
